How to Apply

Kok Fei See
Pupil June 2008 – April 2009
When I applied for pupilage, my intention was clear: I wanted to start out in tax practice, at the same time I wanted to have the opportunity to work within different practice groups. And RDL was the place which allowed me to do this. Why tax practice? It is hard to explain in words. At RDL, I received substantial exposure to revenue law; I have worked on tax avoidance, double taxation agreements, stamp duty appeal and other indirect taxes. At the same time, I have also received a great scope of work from other departments. I enjoyed the work that I was doing with the support and encouragement from my pupil master and all lawyers in the firm. The partners will always make it a point to explain every

task given to us, allowing us to picture a bigger scheme of things, and also often encourage us to discuss work freely with them. Everyone is here to learn and to be a better lawyer. Together with my fellow pupils who are helpful and friendly, we experienced a good and enjoyable learning process. RDL indeed provides pupils with a good learning environment with knowledge and fun. There is always a balance between work and pleasure. Pupils are invited to participate in leisure activities organised by the firm, which help to renew our energy to meet daily challenges and often motivate us to increase productivity after a lot of thinking and analysing. At RDL, we work hard; we play hard without compromising professionalism and work quality. Thus far, I have no regrets for reading in chambers with RDL. Thanks to RDL for making my pupilage special and unforgettable.

Daniel Joseph Albert
Pupil February 2007 – November 2007
"It was with a hint of trepidation I first started pupilage - straight faced and tight lipped. Thankfully, that didn't last too long. I was happy to find a warm and remarkably friendly mix of individuals that made for an ideal environment to work and learn. I enjoyed a well rounded pupilage experience. The flexible pupilage system in place meant I was not merely restricted to my master's portfolio but rather was at liberty to try my hand at any of RDL's many different practise areas. The accessibility to partners and lawyers alike combined with their ready willingness to impart their professional skills and experiences have provided me a sound legal foundation to build my career on."
