| Vijey obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of London in 1995 after which he worked as a consultant in the Tax and Business Advisory Division of the then Arthur Andersen in Kuala Lumpur for 2½ years. During this time he gained extensive experience in the areas of corporate tax advisory and compliance, restructuring, expatriate tax planning, indirect taxes, and offshore tax regimes, especially with respect to the Labuan International Offshore Financial Centre. While working, Vijey studied for the Certificate of Legal Practice and successfully obtained this in October 1998, after which he underwent pupillage and was called to the Peninsular Malaysian Bar in October 1999. Vijey was a Senior Associate in the Corporate & Commercial Department and became a partner on March 1, 2005. His practice includes advising on business structures and regulatory approvals, mergers and acquisitions, foreign investments, corporate finance in the areas of debt and equity financing and tax (both direct and indirect taxes). He is an Associate of the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (formerly known as the Malaysian Institute of Taxation) |
