Darryl's first degree was a Bachelor of Laws with Honours, from the University of London in 1979.  Darryl was called to the English Bar as an Utter Barrister in 1980 and is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn, London.  In 1981 he obtained a Master of Laws degree from King’s College, University of London and at the same time also obtained a Diploma in Air and Space Law from the London Institute of World Affairs.  He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1982 and was admitted into partnership in the Firm in January, 1985.  Darryl has also been admitted to the Bar of Singapore.  Darryl was for a number of years a member of the Malaysian Bar Council and has served in various sub-committees of the Council including serving as Chairman of the Council’s Information Technology Committee and its Intellectual Property Committee and as a member, then as the editor, of the editorial boards of INSAF (the Journal of the Malaysian Bar) as well as of INFOLINE (the magazine of the Malaysian Bar).  He is also a member of the Displinary Committee Panel, appointed by the Advocates and Solicitors' Disciplinary Board established under the Legal Profession Act 1976.  Darryl is a registered Patent Agent, Trademark Agent and Industrial Designs Agent.  He has served as Treasurer of the Malaysian Intellectual Property Association (MIPA) and was a member of the Council of the ASEAN Intellectual Property Association. 

As head of the Dispute Resolution Department and a senior litigator with numerous cases reported in the law journals, Darryl enjoys an immense variety of litigation work including litigation in civil and commercial matters, corporate law, insurance law, professional negligence, defamation, medico-legal matters and intellectual property. In regard to alternate dispute resolution, Darryl is a member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration and a member of the Panel of Arbitrators for the International Chamber of Commerce, Malaysia. Being also a Registered Mediator with the Malaysian Mediation Centre, set up under the auspices of the Malaysian Bar Council, Darryl has acted as mediator in various disputes. He is a Management Partner and a member of the Firm's Executive Committee.
